The Buddha According To BigBlackBuddha 6/21/11

This is my daily interpretation of The Buddha...

"It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell."
-The Buddha

As I sit here, with a much needed buzz, this Buddha quote is hitting me harder than the half a joint I smoked a while ago. As humans, the very thing that separates us from animals is our unconscious desire to better our lives. Ones desire may not be as much to another, but its still more than the sole basic instinct shared by all animals...and that's survival.

Its been a long time since mankind was nothing more than a caveman. Unlike them, we generally stay in one place instead of a never ending nomadic relocation. At night, having light is done with an easy flick of the switch or a spark of the lighter. We got water from the faucet, the park water fountain or in a recyclable plastic bottle. Its not really surprise to see how any of us cannot be driven towards wanting the finer things for life. Despite times being tough, they're probably still better than having to go out and kill your food in order to live.

For myself and others, simply just living is not living. Survival is better than being dead for all of us I assume, but to some just surviving is not living at all. I can f*ck with that. Sh*******t at the end of the day, life shouldn't range from just making enough for rent money or driving some nice a$$ car that you can't even afford. The first being conservative and the other kind of on the extreme. Sort of like the difference between Biggie's debut Ready To Die and 50's Get Rich Or Die Trying. I think most of us can agree that Biggie's debut was some classic sh*t. Curtis' freshman album will probably come up for discussion in small company.

Aight I'm too buzzed right now. I'm going to do another quote tomorrow when I'm sober up.

What do you guys think about this quote?
