Ever think if a song had a different beat it would sound better?
Every now and then I listen to a song (beats and lyrics) that was just ok. The reason being the rhymes were dope but they get lost in the music. Sometimes, in Nas' case quite often, the perfect rhymes are blended with an imperfect track.
Back in the day I was surfing the web and I stumbled into a trio of producers who go by the name of Cookin Soul. I listened to some of their mixtapes and I instantly got hook. What blew me away more was that these guys were based out of Spain. I didn't really know anything about the Spanish hip hop scene but these cats were the perfect window to it. Their production was stellar and a lot of times resembled 90s hip hop with their production containing some pretty wicked soul samples. Hearing their production on a lot of these rappers acapellas made their version superior to the original song.
Here are some of their works:
These guys were one of the main reasons I started leaving the radio alone and started looking for music on my spare time. Some people are always wondering "Where's the real hip hop at?" Its alive but she's playing hard to get. Believe me, the search is well worth it.
I'm definitely going to be posting more of their sh*t in the future but if you want to check out their music there's alwasy Youtube. Plus they're on Facebook and their website is www.cookinsoul.com.
If you have an idea for a posting or you're in need of advice from me or the bloggers please send it to realspitforyall@gmail.com.
