The Buddha According To BigBlackBuddha - 7/11/11

Another interpretation of the The Buddha...

"If a traveler does not meet with one who is his better, or his equal, let him firmly keep to his solitary journey; there is no companionship with a fool."
-The Buddha

"There is no companionship with a fool."  That's some real sh*t right there.  I could have used this quote back in the day and not had to deal with some people.  We all have people who been in our lives for far too long.  For me, good or bad, a person can teach you about yourself.  However, I also believe in letting go whenever something has to go.  Sooner or later, people outgrow each other.  Whether its an associate, a friend or a lover, some things are meant to expire.  Not knowing when to move on can eventually lead to some strain or tension that could have easily been avoided.

An example of this quote would be you and a group of friends.  Let's say you got six friends.  All of you guys are young and wild.  You hang out, drink, smoke, go clubbing and basically don't give a sh*t about anything on a regular basis.  Now as you guys get older three of your friends grow out of the partying and whoring.  They want to tone that sh*t down, maybe get an education and eventually a 9 to 5.  Now the other three friends want to keep partying, f*cking, and be on the same bullsh*t.  The three friends who are getting their lives together no longer mess with the other three friends like that anymore.  The three friends acting like they're still in their youth but are basically grown but are still playing around and doing stupid sh*t on the side.  They don't f*cks with the other three either, but want you to still roll with them.  Now you're in the middle.  Do you get your mind right?  Do you pick sides?  What would you do?

For some of us, including myself, we are guilty when it comes to judging people.  In a way its kinda messed up when you think you are better than someone.  I don't see a problem with it if were talking about a particular subject.  I have no problem with someone telling me they can roll a blunt better than me or play poker better than me.  You'll probably just hear me say "Well roll one up then n*gga!" or "Well play me in spades and let the best man win."  If you're saying it from that context than its cool.  Now if you're saying a person is not on you level or whatever you better have some convincing evidence.  Otherwise you might want to park your a$$ in the Conceited As F*ck category.

Now there's nothing wrong with flying solo as oppose to having a partner with you for the ride.  Sometimes we gotta be alone to know who we are.  If you are, make sure you're not the fool that The Buddha is referring to.
