The Most Powerful Man in the World has his work cut out for him in order to get re-elected... |

Winning the Presidency was easy...saving the U.S. is a whole different story... |
First off I AM NOT one of these Obama haters. You know, like Fox News, The Tea Party, Republicans and Caucasians that never got past 3rd grade, owns at least 9 guns and who's mother is also their sister. Like most people, I pulled my high a$$ out of bed early in the morning, waited for hours in line and voted this man to be our President...our leader. I believed in Obama then and I still now. I believe he has the right vision and plans to turn things around in our country. Buuuuuuuuuuuut there's one problem: HE'S BLACK!!!!!!!
Let's not ignore the elephant in the room people. Race played a big factor in Obama getting elected. Yes he did win over a good number of White votes but let's be honest. He was already going to get the democratic vote. Every democratic hopeful gets the whole party behind him no matter what. Blacks came out more than ever because he was Black and that this was the best chance we had to get one of US in the White Office in our lifetime. It was almost like we were voting cause we know such an opportunity would never come back around.
From the jump, Obama knew he had a lot of work to do. |
After he had won, I was thrilled for a minute. Like a lot of people, Black and non-Black, we were proud of him and ourselves for being a part of history. Once weed buzz got going my mind started analyzing and looking into the future for our country and our newly elected president. I knew that he had only two scenarios: Undo all of Bush's mistakes and be seen as The Second Coming; or fail and become the White Supremacy's proof of "Black Inferiority." All or nothing. Succeed, this man could be the first sign of CHANGE, no pun intended, that the U.S. hasn't seen in quite some time. Failure would set back not only Blacks but ALL minorities in the U.S. and abroad. For a lot of us, we can make over a dozen mistakes on a daily basis and nobody would really give a sh*t. That's how a lot of us make it through the day - we don't have to deal with people crawling up our a$$es for every move we make. Being the first Black President a lot of us rightfully worried that someone is going to shoot this guy. What you guys fail to miss is that there's more than one way to shoot a brotha. A gun doesn't have to be used today to take down a Black figure that has power and influence. We have television and the Internet for that now.

I haven't seen dude smile for a minute... |
One of the negatives about living in a time were technology allows us to have almost anything we want at our fingertips we sometimes act like everything else in our lives are the same way. With him promising "Change" every time he opened his mouth, the message was heard loud and clear via your radio, , television, X-Box, Playstation, iPod, YouTube, Facebook and even Myspace if you didn't know it sucks now. After he got in office people were thinking it would only be a matter of time before he reversed the 8 years of bullsh*t George W. Bush gave us. I never thought he could do it in four years. I honestly think it will be 20 or 35 years from now, if were lucky, that this country recovers from the Bush Administration's leadership. I mean look at 9/11. 10 years later people are still responding to it like its 2001. You can't rush grieving so why did a lot of people think an economic depression could be turned around after 6 or 12 months. Going into the next Presidential race, he's going to have to deal with strong competition from the Republican/Tea Party side. However, I think his biggest competition will come from his own camp.
