Here's a classic joint from SP Da Ghost. In my honest opinion, this is one of the most unappreciated tracks in Hip Hop history.
The track is called "I'm Black" and it features the lovely vocals of Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry. Once you hear the joint you'll understand why radio didn't have the balls to play it. Check it out below:
I wished Styles would had made a video for this. His label at the time should have put their funds behind this pro-Black anthem instead of wasting it probably on some flop that imitated some trend. Yet, I'm sure MTV would have gave it some spins. BET....you never know. I still remember them banning Little Brother's "Lovin' It" because it was "too smart." I haven't fucked with BET since then.
Despite the track focusing on Blacks I think its a song for everyone. You got positive lyrics meant to uplift you, make you proud of the reflection you see everyday and most of all...love thy self. Everybody, regardless of race, deserves the three mentioned experiences in their lives.
