Some of the best songs nowadays seem to feature at least one feature. You know a rapper is big time when you listen to the radio or a mixtape and they are featured on a majority of the tracks being played. Shit it seems like most artists on these major labels can't drop an album without a feature from the flavor of the month.
One rare thing about features is the featured artist outshining the main artist on their own shit. Usually when an artist decides to put someone on a track they bring their A game. If they have an ounce of pride they won't leave the studio until they're shit is as good, or better, than their feature.
Getting murdered on your own track is almost as bad as taking a L in a rap beef. Check out Jigga...his ass got spanked by Nas back when they were feuding. Not only did Nas basically showed people Jigga ain't shit in a rap battle (Really...name a major rapper he's deaded...I'm waiting) but he reminded the world that Jigga got murdered by Eminem on his own shit!!!! I can go on but let's get to 3 STACKS....
One half of arguably the greatest rap duo in Hip-Hop, Andre 3000 has been teasing the game for years with his out of nowhere guest verses. His verses be so crazy there's really no need to listen to the rest of the song after he's through with it. Each time he's featured on a track its the main artist's funeral quite frankly.
